SPOTLIGHT on MINISTRY

 WORSHIP MINISTRY- Raquel Allfrey

1.  How long have you been a Christian?
I grew up in church, primarily Baptist, and was taught about Jesus most of my life.  When I was 11 or 12, our church was having a week long revival.  The evangelist had dinner at our house one evening and just sat and talked with me and prayed with me and that was the night I gave my life to the Lord.

2.  How long have you been serving at CCPH?
I have been serving at CCPH since the very first Monday night we met as a group at the hospice.  I have served in a variety of capacities, from setting up chairs, to serving in the nursery and kid's classrooms.  I have most actively served through our music ministry and worship team and have been blessed to lead worship during home fellowships, women's ministry, VBS and both Wednesday night and Sunday morning services.

3.  How did you know when God called you to lead in this particular ministry?
I have been playing the keyboard and singing since I was 10 years old.
It is a talent and skill that I have actively used for the Lord for most of my life.   I never really gave much thought to leading in this ministry, but when the opportunity came around a couple of years ago, Pastor Brett asked me to really pray about it and here I am.

4.  Why is this ministry important to you?

I love music and sometimes a song will speak to my heart like nothing else can.   Music is powerful and allows us to open up and express our feelings in ways that we might not be able to otherwise.   Each week as I approach the songs and preparing for practice and the Sunday morning service,  it is always with the desire that the Lord would choose the songs the He wants us to sing and that He would use us in those songs.   I never want myself or the worship team to get in the way of what the Lord wants to do.  I think that every week there is a song for everyone, a song that meets each person right where they are.  My desire is that the music would draw people closer to the Lord, where they can sing out and praise Him.  I just want the worship to be worship.

5.  What are the biggest needs in your ministry as far as serving?

Like all of the other areas of the church, we are always looking for new servants to join our team.  Obviously there is a certain level of musical skill and talent needed, but even more importantly, we are looking for people that have the heart and desire to serve the Lord through the music.  Additionally, serving on the worship team requires a big time commitment that involves practice during the week, coming in early on Sunday mornings and staying for both services.  So if you have the talent and heart to serve and are willing to make the time commitment, you should come talk to me.   I think overall, the worship team has been absolutely blessed with some wonderful servants that are extremely talented and have served faithfully for many years.  It is my prayer that the Lord will continue bringing new talent our way with that same dedication and commitment and heart to serve.

6. How has God used this ministry in your life as far as your own spiritual growth?
For me, this opportunity to lead the worship team has been a great experience and has really challenged me.  I feel like it has strengthened my faith and trust in the Lord and I have been so encouraged by the way God has used me.  I continue to grow in Him and I am dedicated to serving on the worship team, in whatever capacity, until the Lord tells me otherwise.

 MEDIA  MINISTRY- Frank Proctor

1.  How long have you been a Christian?
Sue and I have always known since our marriage that there was something missing in our religious experience.  We both gave our heart to Jesus in 1998 at a worship service during an Amway Convention.  We were told to find a church that taught the bible and we had met Dick and Kathleen Murdock the year before.  They invited us to go to worship with them.

2.  How long have you been serving at CCPH?
We were at CC St Pete trying to get involved, then when Pastor Brett went north we did also.  We both got involved with CC Oldsmar (now CCPalm Harbor) in the childrens program and at the book table.

3.  How did you know when God called you to lead in this particular ministry?
I was asked to help out at the book table and found that we needed to have a better way to keep track of the books, so I wrote a computer program.  I decided that since God had me do that, I better stay around to take care of the program.  He made me comfortable around people at the book table and here I am.

4.  Did He give you a specific verse to base your ministry around, if so please explain and list the verse?
I have always been wanting to serve others.  There is no single verse, since there is alot of verses that deal with being a servant to my fellow christians and others.

5.  Why is this ministry important to you?
I feel that knowledge is important, but the correct knowledge is even more important.  We have only the books, pamphlets and music that is approved by a fellowship that believes in teaching the entire bible.

6.  What are the biggest needs in your ministry as far as serving?
To listen to the person talking and understanding where they are coming from.  Not all are looking for the same information.  Being friendly and knowing who to send them to if I don't have the answer is also important.

7. How has God used this ministry in your life as far as your own spiritual growth?
I have read more books since being a part of this fellowship.  Talking and listening to other wiser brothers and sisters have lead me to know that I am in the right place to get closer to Jesus.

8. What is your vision for this ministry in the future, do you see it expanding into more?
I would love to have an entire room just for the book store and CD distribution, but as the fellowship grows and in God's time, that will all come to pass.  A few more permanent people would make it easier, although, God did not say it would be easy.  We have seen a problem with there only being 2 of us permanently working, when an illness takes one of us away.  It's very reassuring that there are a few other people that have helped out over the years that can step in and help on a moments notice.  Again, as the fellowship grows and in God's time we will have a few more people to help out.
